Joseph Parker Faces Potential Disqualification After Failed Anti-Doping Test
Joseph Parker produced a positive sample as part of a doping test administered on the day he fought in 11th-round stoppage to English fighter Fabio Wardley.
The Match Along with Its Implications
Fabio Wardley along with Joseph Parker participated in a pulsating contest in London last October to decide the identity of the WBO mandatory challenger against unified heavyweight titleholder Oleksandr Usyk.
The fighter had been the primary candidate to face Usyk after compiling a notable six wins in a row, yet put his shot at the title on the line in London and experienced a stoppage in round eleven.
Adverse Finding Along with Potential Consequences
A routine test conducted on Parker by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency the day he fought returned positive and leaves Parker in a difficult position to clear his name.
Parker's promotional company published a statement which read: "The anti-doping body alerted all relevant parties that Joseph Parker had a positive result after an anti-doping test conducted on the 25th October. While the matter is investigated, no more comments are forthcoming currently."

Parker was crowned world champion back in 2016 prior to he was defeated for his WBO belt by unanimous decision to Anthony Joshua in Wales 24 months later.
The fighter remained an active participant on British soil after that, competing in eight bouts overall on UK territory and transferring to the Irish capital for preparation under highly regarded trainer former champion Lee in recent years.
