Former Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Charges
Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
