Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
